Oilgas
Bio × oil & gas: oil-spill remediation, MEOR, bio-drilling fluids, waste remediation.
Where it's used
Bio-based drilling fluids
Bio-based drilling-fluid additives — fermentation xanthan and scleroglucan viscosifiers, cellulosic CMC/PAC and modified-starch fluid-loss control, and vegetable-oil ester base fluids — that replace synthetic polymers and mineral-oil base in water-based and invert-emulsion drilling muds while cutting discharge toxicity.
Drilling-waste bioremediation
On-site microbial and enzymatic treatment of oil-based drill cuttings and drilling mud that degrades residual hydrocarbons and polymers before land disposal, cutting landfill volume and disposal cost for oil and gas operators — sold by specialist environmental-services firms (EnviroZyme, Enviro Resources, GEP Zymes, Keneco Environmental) rather than performed in-house by drilling companies.
Oil-spill bioremediation (land-based)
Microbial products — mostly consortia of naturally occurring hydrocarbon-degrading bacteria and archaea, sold as powders, liquids or adsorbent blends — applied on land to break down petroleum spills, fuel leaks and legacy hydrocarbon contamination in soil, supplied by dedicated bioremediation-product makers (OBio, CoreBiologic, Provilan, Bio-C, Dalian Zhiwei Biotech) rather than by oilfield-service majors.
