Joes is innovating new ways to produce real meat, without the need to breed, feed and slaughter animals but by feeding cells. Our company has the first cultured meat platform for production and research in China. In December 2020, our company raised a 20 million yuan in financing from #Matrix Partners China for the research and industrialization of cultured meat technology.

Joes Future Food (Nanjing) is an active Chinese biotechnology company specializing in the research, development, and pilot-scale production of cultivated meat, specifically pork. Founded in December 2019 by Dr. Ding Shijie and a team from Nanjing Agricultural University, the company is headquartered in the Lishui District of Nanjing, Jiangsu Province.
The company utilizes proprietary technology for cell line development, low-cost serum-free culture media, and large-scale bioprocessing. Its core products include cultivated pork belly, lard, and structured meat formats created via 3D printing and hybrid mycoprotein integration.
As of late 2025, the company has raised over $14 million from investors including Matrix Partners China, Hillhouse Capital, and Crystal Stream Capital. In December 2025, it commissioned China’s largest cultivated meat pilot plant, capable of producing 10 to 50 tons annually, and successfully completed the world’s first scaled trial production of cultivated pork in a 2,000-liter bioreactor. The company is currently pursuing regulatory approval in Singapore and preparing safety data for the Chinese market, with expectations for technology safety assessments to conclude by the end of 2026.
