Founded in 1973 by M. Venkata Ramaiah and currently led by M. Prabhakara Rao, the company is headquartered in Hyderabad, Telangana. It operates as a key entity within the diversified NSL Group, which is anchored by the holding company Mandava Holdings Private Limited.
NSL is recognized as India’s largest Bt cotton seed seller by volume. Its operations are supported by extensive R&D infrastructure, including ISTA-accredited laboratories and multi-location trial stations. The company maintains a vast distribution network across 21 states, serving over 5.5 million farmers through more than 10,000 distributors and 81,000 dealers.
Financially, NSL reported a consolidated turnover of ₹1,301 crore in FY25, with growth momentum continuing into 9MFY26. The company is privately held and does not have publicly traded shares. It maintains a strong financial profile with negligible external debt, relying on internal accruals for operations and expansion.
