The food sector is the bioeconomy’s largest by area and its strictest in biology: yield is capped by photosynthesis, nitrogen and water, and every page in the sector is ultimately about one of those three ceilings. The sector’s recurring motifs: the yield-versus-resilience trade always has a mechanism (stress protection costs the plant energy); the alternative-protein argument is not taste but amino-acid completeness and processing energy; and precision farming is worth exactly as much as its sensor is accurate.
