Biological authentication, bioluminescent urban lighting and in-space organ bioprinting — what remains of a mechanism at the boundary of fields.

Boundaries are where an honest page is most at risk: a “bio-IT” or “bio-city” entry can describe a market instead of a mechanism. This cluster holds one line of defence: at every intersection, test whether the biological mechanism survives the application’s budget. Biometric authentication works while forgery costs more than verification, and a marker’s strength is the minimum of three quantities — uniqueness, stability, readout discipline. Bioluminescent lighting runs into arithmetic: one substrate molecule per photon, orders of magnitude short of infrastructure lux. In-space bioprinting genuinely removes sedimentation and buoyant convection — and immediately hands leadership to surface tension and the diffusion limit.
