Biofuels & bioenergy

Overview of the industry

Fossil fuels and their toxic additives (MTBE, octane aromatics, the lead legacy), and the proven biological alternatives already running at national scale: biogas/biomethane from organic waste, sugar/starch/cellulosic bioethanol, biodiesel and renewable fuels.

Fuels, digesters and blending programmes need national authorization (excise, fuel standards, grid/pressure rules; in Russia: technical regulations on fuel quality, gas rules). The articles are overviews, not engineering or regulatory advice.

This is the first collection built with a direct join to the 1,320-company vendor index: 146 active companies carry the bioethanol/biogas/biodiesel-saf tags.
