1 · What it gives

The biomass balance approach is a chain-of-custody model in which renewable feedstock enters at the start of an integrated production system and its sustainability characteristics are attributed to specific products. Products act as drop-in replacements for fossil-based ones with identical technical properties. It is at commercial scale: BASF offers over 1,500 certified products as of 2026.
