A fruiting block is blended from sawdust and soy hull (or upcycled coffee grounds) with water and a nitrogen source to set the carbon-to-nitrogen ratio the mycelium needs.
Stage 2: Pasteurization
The block is heat-treated (or lime-treated) to suppress competitor moulds and bacteria while leaving it viable for inoculation by the target species.
