1 · What it gives

RNAi and antisense (ASO) platforms use short chemically modified nucleic acids to target and modulate gene transcripts through base pairing, offering a programmable route to targets that small molecules and antibodies miss. They replace or augment conventional chemical and antibody drugs. The industry is commercial with multiple approved drugs: the first siRNA drug, patisiran, was approved in 2018.

D1Enteric methane from cattle and sheep reduced by bromoform-containing red seaweed (Asparagopsis), essential-oil and plant-extract feed additives, and low-methane genetics — instead of unabated emissions and synthetic inhibitors alone
Replaces: Unabated enteric methane; reliance on the synthetic inhibitor 3-nitrooxypropanol (3-NOP) as the only approved tool; ionophore antibiotics …

D2Detergent enzymes for low-temperature washing instead of phosphates, extra surfactant and hot washing
Replaces: Phosphate builders (STPP), part of the fossil-based surfactant load, and high wash temperatures (60–90 °C) needed to remove protein, starch …

D2Disease-resistant crop varieties (marker-assisted breeding, stacked resistance genes, cisgenesis) instead of routine fungicide spray programmes
Replaces: Season-long protective fungicide programmes on susceptible varieties — e.g. 10–20 sprays of mancozeb/chlorothalonil/metalaxyl against potato …

D1Durable wood without toxic preservatives — furfurylated wood (from agricultural residues), acetylated wood, thermally modified wood, naturally durable species and constructive protection — instead of CCA, creosote and biocidal impregnation
Replaces: Chromated copper arsenate (CCA), creosote (coal-tar), pentachlorophenol (PCP), copper-azole and other biocidal wood preservatives for …
